346. Richard Sedlon (American 1900-1991) Carved Cabinet

A beautifully hand carved tall cabinet with four interior shelves meant to hold wine. The case is beautifully carved with a checkerboard pattern under a relief of grapes on the vine and trellis on three sides as well as the interior door. The carved escutcheon is also in the shape of a bunch of grapes. Cabinet is unsigned and measures apprx 63" h x 15-3/4" d x 19-3/4" w.

"Richard was also a professional artist who dabbled in carvings, oil paintings and sketches and worked for Morgan Lithography and Otis Litho of Cleveland. He lived in Bedford, Ohio with his wife Anne (the former Anne Nyerges) in the Hezekiah Dunham House, which Anne inherited from her family. He left much of his work (with the exception of those that had been sold or given to family) to the Bedford Museum in Bedford, Ohio.
