156. Four French Illustrations, 19th Century

Set of four original illustrations. Three of the illustrations are by French artist LeBeguy, c. 1896 and fourth by an unknown illustrator. Please see details page for complete descriptions.

LeBeguy, watercolor and ink. First illustration is entitled "Ete" and depicts several people rejoicing under a Japanese lantern that reads "Ete." Image is adheared to backing paper. Measures apprx 9-1/4" x 7-1/2." Paper size is apprx 17" x 12-1/2." Second illustration is entitled "Hiver"and depicts townspeople in the midst of various wintertime activities. Both images are signed in lower right corner. Third illustration is entitled "Printemps" and depicts the townspeople enjoying spring past times. Last illustration in this set is entitled "Le Bibliomane" and is by an unknown French artist. This illustration features two men digging through a large box of books. Verso of image reads "No. 1 a 150 sur papier de Chine et Japon. 151 a 500 sur papier belin du Marais." Image size is apprx 6-1/2" x 4-3/4." Adheared to backing paper, which measures apprx 16-1/2" x 12-1/2."
