60. Harry Herman Roseland (American 1866-1950)

A wonderful oil on canvas board titled "The Conference" shows three elderly gentlemen, all with full white beards and moustaches wearing spectacles, two holding canes. They are seated and engrosed in conversation. Two of the men are listening attentivley to the third man, who has captured their attention. The detail of the mens' beards and their clothing is great. Signed Harry Roseland in the lower left corner. Roseland specialized in interior genres that show men discussing art and literature in smoke-filled libraries. Framed this piece measures apprx 18" x 23-3/4" and apprx 24" x 30" framed.
