Probably Japanese. This is a wall pocket with loop on verso for hanging. Styled as a fish, detailed body and open mouth. Rests nicely on table. Overall apprx 3-1/2"T x 8"L x 4-1/2"W, no visible marks or signature.

323. C. Late 18th-Early 19th Century Japanese Kutani Bowl


C. Late 18th to early 19th century Japanese Katani bowl is made from glazed porcelain under glass. Blue medallion in center of bowl depicts a bearded dragon. A lotus and foliage pattern adorns the upper rim. Hand-painted gold cranes, dragons and clouds accent a second register of orange-red glaze. Signed with Japanese characters in blue glaze on verso of bowl. Exterior of bowl is ornamented with blue and orange-red floral designs. Measures apprx 6-1/2" in diameter.

A seascape with two boats under a full moon and mountains visible on the shore. Detail in a light from the ship reflecting on the water and also in the waves in the water. It is titled Kiminato Bay and is part of Hasegawa's night scene series and is #1261 in the Hasegawa catalogue. It is character stamped in red in the lower right corner and matted and framed with a bamboo style frame. It measures apprx 9-1/4" T x 6-5/8" W image size and 6" T x 12" W. On verso is a sticker from Traxel Art Society, Cincinnati, OH.

Titled "Shrine of Gate of Miyajima", this is part of Hasegwa's night scene series. It is # 1251 of the Hasegawa catalogue. A pagoda stands in the water behind three men rowing a boat, all under a full moon. There is great detail in the waves, especially in the foreground. It is stamped on the lower right corner and measures apprx 9-1/4" T x 7" W, image size and 15-1/2" T x 11-1/4" W overall. It is matted and framed in a bamboo style frame under glass. On verso is a sticker from Traxel Art Society, Cincinnati, OH.

Carved of "Angel Skin" coral, this piece has the pinkish tones known for this type of coral and is very nicely carved with many details to the front. It is a female figure holding a jar, with an upraised hand, topped with blooms. Her robe is most fascinating as it is decorated with bead work, ribbons and jewelry. Apprx 8-1/4"T x 1-1/4"W.
