Rose Medallion basket features reticulated sides. Interior on bottom is hand painted with scenes from daily oriental life. A circular medallion in the center features a bird and a flower. Upper rim of basket has hand painted floral designs. Overall measures apprx 11" x 9-1/2" x 4". Unmarked and unsigned. Rose Medallion porcelain dates from the late Ching period.

Hand-painted tea pot has flowers, birds and butterflies. Tea pot has thin metal handles covered in twine. Simple disc-shaped lid is ornamented with hand-painted leaves and flowers. Brown wicker tea cozy is lined with red linen interior. Small metal ring is located on back of cozy. Wicker lid has hinged fixture to keep cozy closed. Metal handles attached to top. Tea pot measures apprx 7" x 7". Cozy measures apprx 9" x 9".

Rose Medallion warming plate has a spout in which hot water would be poured to keep plate's surface warm. Plate is hand-painted with oriental figures, flowers and exotic birds. A centralized medallion is accented with gold paint and depicts a blue and red bird. Measures apprx 11-1/2" in diameter.

Rose Medallion cylinder vase features a scene in which an oriental couple looks out a window. Below them a woman appears to be speaking to a child. Upper register of vase is hand-painted with various flowers and exotic birds. Rose Medallion porcelain dates from the Late Ching period. Vase measures apprx 9-1/2" x 3-1/2". Unmarked and unsigned.

Rose Medallion teapot features hand-painted scenes of oriental figures. These images are accented by hand-painted sections of foliage, flowers, birds and butterflies. Curved handle is accented by gilded geometric and linear designs. Spout is adorned with gilded floral pattern. Measures apprx 9-1/2" x 10".

308. "Venus Commanding the Vulcan Army", C.1744-1820


A Vienna oval plaque features a neo-classical scene in which Venus, the goddess of love commands the Vulcan army, consisting of numerous cyclopes. This scene is filled with images of mythology, including a chariot resting in a corner, Cupid sitting on Venus' lap, helmets and shields that litter the ground and a sacrificial lamb's head that is visible near the bottom of the image. Stenciled gold feathered design adorns the outer rim of the plate. Signed "Winkler" in the lower right corner. It is hand-painted and the verso of plaque is inscribed "Venus commandant a Vulcain les armes pour Enee." The hallmark of Royal Vienna, the beehive, is also visible on verso. Inscribed with blue underglaze. Plaque measures apprx 10" x 15". Encompassed by gold velvet and gilded wood frame. Frame has decorative rose and feather motif. Overall measures apprx 24" x 23".

309. Monumental Nippon Hand Painted Vase, Late 19th/Early 20th Century


This exquisite hand-painted vase features a landscape scene complete with mountains, stream, birds and flowers. It is surmounted by two color fields of caramel color, the shoulders having four concave semi-circles decorated with a gold moriage floral pattern. Bordering this is a Greek key design in gold moriage. The shape is tapered with a flared rim and footed base. Verso marked with leaf mark and "M" and "Hand-painted Nippon." Vase measures apprx 15-1/2"T x 8"W at shoulder.

Sevres blue, porcelain inkwell features a scrolling acanthus and feather-like design. Hand-painted bouquet of roses and wildflowers adorns the center of the inkwell. Stands upon gilded scroll feet. Inkwell has a removable porcelain cup with gilded edges and decorative lid. Second removable porcelain cup has a pierced lid and was used to hold powder to blot up excess ink. This piece also has two small holes in which one would place a pen. Unmarked and unsigned. Overall measures apprx 7" x 9" x 8".

Dresden Center Compote

311. Dresden Center Compote


Dresden porcelain center compote features a stem-like base adorned with two figures playing musical instruments. The stem of the compote has applied flowers and leaves. Compote on top has gilded ornamentation, reticulated decoration and seashell accents. Overall measures apprx 14" x 10". Compote can be unscrewed from base. Underside of base features the hallmark of Dresden porcelain. Dresden porcelain was introduced by Carl August Kuntzsch in 1872. After Kuntzsch's death his sons Carl August and Emil took over the Dresden Company.

312. Two Robinson & Leadbetter Tinted Parian Figures


A pair of tinted parian figures by Robinson & Leadbetter. The 6 a.m. figure is a shoeshine boy. He wears a loose shirt and is in the process of cleaning a shoe with a scrub brush. He whistles while he works. A second shoe is set upon a tree stump. He is attached to a square-shaped base. Front of the base is inscribed "6 A.M." The second figure in this pair is another young boy, carrying a stack of newspapers under one arm. He holds the evening news in his other hand. The square base is inscribed "6 P.M." It appears that this is the same youth, at different times of the day. Back of each figure is inscribed with the letters "R & L" inside an oval cartouche. Each figure measures apprx 14" x 6".
