208. Copper Van Erp Desk Set
Wavy copper desk set is comprised of a note pad frame with pen holder, wood lined copper box, copper and felt blotter, and copper letter holder. Each piece has a deco-style diamond cartouche with initials R.G.E. Blotter has a green paper lining. All pieces are stamped with the Dirk Van Erp hallmark, a windmill with four blades. Below is marked "San Francisco." Pad measures apprx 30-1/2" x 21" and frames measure apprx 4-1/2" x 8". Box measures apprx 3-1/2" x 6". Letter holder measures apprx 3-1/2" x 4".

209. "Whizzer" Motorbike, C. 1947
A restored "Roadmaster" kit bike, model H, produced by the Cleveland Welding Company. This model was introduced in the summer of 1946. The Whizzer was started by Breene-Taylor, a small company in Los Angeles, manufacturing carburators and aircraft parts. They launched their bicycle engine in late 1939 and the Whizzer Model D. Schwinn became involved with Whizzer in late 1947 through a patent conflict with Cleveland Welding, however the association with Cleveland Welding pre-dates Schwinn. Red paint with black pin stripping, tank has three yellow decals. Total restoration in 2000

210. Abercrombie & Fitch Leather Rhinoceros
Leather rhinoceros was manufactured by Omersa & Co. Founded in 1927, this London based company reached the peak of production in the 1960's. This rhinoceros child seat was commissioned by Abercrombie & Fitch, NYC as a display piece in the store. Children were allowed to sit on these pieces while their parents would shop. This rhino measures apprx 31" x 8" x11." Made from cowhide that has been treated with a mahogany dye and then treated with a wax coating.

Murano glass chandelier has a tiered metallic body. Accented with detachable glass of varying sizes. Six electric sockets for the attachment of lights. Fixture has an oval shaped Murano, Italy sticker near top. Wiring included. Without glass attached fixture measures apprx 33" x 17". Originally purchased in 1971.

"Composition", handmade of pure mountain mohair, this limited edition Vasarely tapestry is 21 of 50 produced in the tiny kingdom of Lesotho, which is in the middle of South Africa by Royal Lesotho Tapestry. It is signed on the tag by the weaver Regina Mohale. Both ends are re-inforced for hanging and it is very soft. Overall apprx 73" x 68".

214. Chartola Grand Company Mandolin-Guitar, Early 20th Century
A cousin to the "guitar-zither", this item was produced starting in 1910 by the Chartola Grand Company in Jersey City. Originally patented by Friederich Menzenhauer in 1894 with partner Oscar Schmidt. Schmidt then became associated with the Chartola Co. Wood body with applied and varnished decals, double strings and bass and chord strings. Three brass feet and attached wall hanging gear for decoration. Overall apprx 19"L x 13"W x 2-1/2"H.

Arts and crafts style tea set consists of five pewter pieces. Service includes tray, sugar, creamer, teapot and waste bowl. Each item is signed "Pairpoint Mfg. Co." on verso. Located in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Also stamped "Quadruple Plate." Tea service has pinched rim on all pieces, including tray. Tea pot has hinged lid. Tray measures apprx 14" in diameter. Teapot measures apprx 10" x 7". Creamer and sugar measure apprx 3" x 4". Waste container measures apprx 3" x 6".
