337. A Fine Antique Heriz Rug This Heriz rug measures apprx 10'8"-1/2" x 7'6" and has a beautiful central medallion with eight edges, bordered by a wide band with scrolling flowers on a vine and diamond cartouche. Birds in the corner spandrels. Flanked by two thinner borders with geometric patterns. The main field color is red with many other colors including teal, yellow, rose, light blue and dark blue, dark brown, camel, salmon and cool ivory. Old and antique examples of Heriz have various blue tones and tend to be more rare. Brown, beige and turquoise shades also indicate older pieces. The colors are all clean, vibrant and bright. 338. A Bakhtiari Rug, Persia Bakhtiari rugs are usually among the best known as the garden carpets with their flower and tendril-filled compartment designs (Khesti Design). This particular rug is somewhat unusual as most rugs in the Kheshti design have rectangular panels, while this one has diamond shaped panels. The panels all contain various stylized flowers and geometric designs. Rug is framed by a wide border in ivory, also with stylized flowers on a vine. Flanked by two thinner borders on the outside and one thinner band on the inside. 339. Antique Heriz Rug of Unusual Design The central floral is a meandering geometric and floral designs on a red field with light and dark blue, salmon, ivory, light sage green and some brown. Rug has a wide navy boarder, flanked by thinner ivory boarders on either side. All borders have floral decorations. Sides in various shades of brown and appear to be in good condition. 340. Another Beautiful Heriz Rug The central medallion on this rug consists of one large, stylized flower surrounded by a geometric border. The central field is red with shades of camel, light and dark blue, salmon, sage green and ivory. The field surrounding the central medallion is symetrical. The corners are also symetrical and are predominantly light blue. There is one thin border in camel with stylized floral pattern followed by a wide border in dark blue also with a stylized floral design. The final border is also thin and is red with a similar floral pattern as the other thin border. This rug is apprx 11'3" x 7'7", apprx 70 years old. 1,800/2,500 Sold: $1,725.00 |

341. A Fine Shirvan Caucasian (Russia) Rug, C. 1910 This rug has two thin borders, one wider border and a fourth thin border. The first and the third border have stylized floral designs while the second and fourth have geometric designs. The rug is directional with two full medallions in the center and a half of a medallion at the top. Flanking the second medallion are figures of a man on horseback and possibly birds. 342. An Antique Zeigler Mahal Rug, Persia Many Mahal carpets, such as this one, have all-over scrolling vines and large palmettos designs. A pattern influenced by the Shah Abbas period carpets and often even called so. This rug has a rust colored field with a symmetrical floral and geometric pattern. Other colors are light and dark blue, camel, ivory, sage green and salmon. It has a wide dark blue border with stylized floral designs flanked by two thinner borders on either side. 344. An Antique Qazvin, Late 19th Century Room sized square rug has silky soft wool with a high pile. Dusty rose field features a central medallion in an ivory-gold color. Central medallion is flanked by two palmettes and floral sprigs. Rug has a palace border with black, olive, cream and gold accents. Border is scalloped and surmounted by two flower filled urns. 346. A Malayer Carpet, late 19th Century This soft wool carpet has a predominantly red/pinkish tone with a central medallion in dark blue. One end has six rows of geometric shapes while the other has only four. Colors of camel, beige, dark blue and red/pink are accented in this carpet in floral geometric motifs, borders and birds. Malayer is small town which has many manufacturing capabilities of nice tribal rugs and carpets of the region. Their carpets usually have a nomadic pattern with a true Herati design.
