Leaf from an Indian manuscript. Professionally matted. Such manuscripts contained the texts of the epics, the Puranas and Sthala Puranas. Hand-written, the script is encased in a gilded border. There are four columns of script divided by one horizontal sections of red script. All of the writing is in red and black ink. Diacritical dots indicate that this is a later manuscript leaf. Written in the Urdu language in the Khat-e-Faarsi style. Leaf measures apprx 10" x 15". Overall with mat measures apprx 15" x 21".

Set of four Indian manuscript leaves which have been professionally matted. Pages have been removed from a book. Black lettering with red accents. Red and blue bands encompass the text, however some text is visible outside the margins. Each leaf measures apprx 7" x 9". Overall with mat measures apprx 11" x 14". Beautifully written Indian calligraphy was often used in manuscripts containing the texts of the epics, the Puranas and Sthala Puranas.

"The Faithful Friends Desire Is...", hand colored printed valentine with movable parts, such as one arm and bouquet. Her secret is revealed when the tab at the upper right is pulled and the answer is on her fan, which is held in her hands. Tipped into an acid free mat board with over mat and mylar cover. From the collection of Robert Wolfe, Antiquariat, Germany. Apprx 3-1/2" x 2-3/4", overall apprx 8" x 7".

A lovely hand painted and decorated valentine with doves, floral swags and detailed borders and corners. Gold foil applique and hand painted love poem, "like fruhlings flowers freshly you..." apprx 2-3/4" x 3-1/2", tipped into an acid-free mat with mylar cover, overall apprx 7" x 8".

This pencil drawing depicts a nude female in a crouching position. She rests her head upon her shoulder and covers her bosom with her arm. A sketch of a leg is located on the lower left side of the paper. Initialed G.B. in pencil in lower right hand corner. It has been suggested that this piece may perhaps be a sketch by American artist George Bellows, though this opinion has not been authenticated. Paper measures apprx 17" x 23". Framed and placed under glass. Overall size is apprx 18" x 24".

"Cinderella" by Jules Pascin captures the joy of the soon-to-be princess as she tries on the glass slipper. Her two evil stepsisters are visible in the background. Etching, signed Pascin in lower right corner. Plate measures apprx 10" x 14". Overall, matted and framed, this piece measures apprx 15-1/2" x 19". Verso has an identification tag from the Societe de Verification de la Gravure Internationale of New York and Paris stating that this is an original etching by Pascin. Cinderella was created by Pascin in 1929 for the illustrated book, Cendrillon, by Charles Perrault. Altogether the book contained five original Pascin etchings, each published in an edition of only 88 impressions. This is a canceled plate; with two horizontal and vertical lines. This is the canceled impression was printed shortly after Pascin’s untimely death in 1930.

Watercolor painting by American artist Frederico Yost is entitled "New York Philharmonic" and is dated 1967. Yost emigrated to Ohio in the 19th Century and studied also at the Art Student's League with the artists Robert Henri and John Sloan. This painting depicts a piano player and a large orchestra conducted by a man in a suit with tails. Signed "Frederico Yost" in the lower right corner. Image measures apprx 20-1/2" x 17". Overall size is apprx 21-1/2" x 18".

Framed this piece measures apprx 20" x 39". Gallery tag for Campanile Galleries, Chicago, is located on verso of the frame.

Framed, 10" x 6-7/8" image size. Abramson was a painter and etcher who lived and worked in NYC. She studied with Ridgman, Bellows, Henri, DuMond and W.A. Levy.

Watercolor landscape by Ohio artist Lawrence Blazey is signed in the lower left corner. Blazey attended the Cleveland Institute of Art and later returned to lecture and teach at his alma mater. Blazey was most well known for his paintings of urban areas during the 1920's through the 30's. He painted, was employed as an illustrator of advertising art, did ceramic work, enamel work, and was part of a core group of Cleveland artists who sported a bohemian existence, and later came to be the Cleveland School Artists. This painting f". tures two tall trees set against a lovely blue sky. Image size is apprx 11" x 8." Overall measures apprx 15" x 18". Verso of painting has a tag from the old Cleveland department store, The May Company, where it was most likely framed and sold as a decorative piece.
