188. An Art Nouveau Window, C.19th Century


From a dinning room build in, this window came from a Brathenal estate, Cleveland, OH. Art Nouveau period, designed with pink waterlillies. Leaded and stained glass window in the original walnut frame. The center glass is mottled glass and the way the glass was blown it is remeniscent of clouds and sky. Two support brackets on verso running through design on fern leaf. Unsigned, apprx 40-1/2"H x 50-1/2"W, in frame.

This Victorian design window depicts the host and chalice in the center of an arched panel with laurals swags and ribbons. The top center has a key and the sides panes are oblong like bricks. 38" x 38"

Lovely Handel Reverse Panted Lamp

190. Lovely Handel Reverse Panted Lamp


This Handel lamp consists of a bronze tripod base with reeded banding and turned legs. It is marked "Handel" on verso of the base and retains its original felt pad. It has a pierced cap and three lights, all with pulls. It is apprx 24-1/2"H. The shade is apprx 14"D and is reverse painted and frosted in a lovely twilight lake scene in shades of an azure blue, yellow, brown, orange and green. The shade is also signed "Handel 6123".

Ornately carved stand with a square top. One leg has a carved winged head of the North wind and a female muse. Talon carved feet and high relief carving throughout. The inside is also hand carved in a low relief design. One stretched between the two fiddle shaped legs. Apprx 4'tall, top apprx 14" squared.

A Petite Settee

This sette measures apprx 32-1/4" x 41-1/2" x 22". It has an upholstered back flanked by carved sides with some open lattice work and small rosettes in the upper corners. The open arms have some carving and are also upholstered. The seat rail is reeded and the settee stands on bun feet. The upholstery is a light tan with tan, burgandy and green woven trim.

A gentleman's chair, with arms and a lady's chair without arms, circa 1920-1930. Both chairs with extensive carving throughout including rosette and leaf decorations on the arms, around the bases on the sides of the back as well as around the frame and on the top of the chair. The rush backs also have a wooden rosette carved in the center. The stretcher is carved and turned as well. Legs are carved and end on wood castors. On verso of the lady's chair is a sticker reading "The Elgin A Simonds Company Furniture Syracuse NY". On verso of both chairs are stickers that indicate additional information from the purchase including "name: L. Baumberger, pattent no. 2972, finish: ant, upholstry: 944, order no.: T4375 Dpt.70. They are apprx 45-1/2" x 25" x24" and 41-3/4" x 18-1/2" x 17-1/2".

Three square back armchairs with black leather backs, double cushioned seats and armrests. The maple frame is carved and ends in tapered legs. On verso of two of the three seats is a metal plate reading "Baker Furniture". Measure apprx 34-1/2" x 25" x 23".

A wonderful pair of chairs with arms carved in the likeness of bird heads. The legs have carved feather like detail and additional smaller bird heads and end in ball and claw feet. The upholstry is a lovely sage green silk with tan stripes. They measures apprx 40-1/2" x 33-1/4" x 28".

Four metal stools with rotating wood seats, all retaining their original stickers which read "The Toledo Metal Furniture Company, Toledo, Ohio, USA". Each stool stands on four legs with a diamond shaped design in the center. They are apprx 28-1/4" h x 15" diam.

An antique black lacquer Buddhist shrine/prayer cabinet has two sets of doors which open to a gilt interior that includes many levels and intricate carvings. Inside there are many removable hanging fixtures and prayer components. The delicately handcarved top of the interior features figures within a landscape. The interior pieces are removable. Overall apprx 5'x 2'-6" x 1'-9".
