Includes title page, dedication page, an elaborate engraving of Roger de Bellegarde by de Passe, table of plates, an engraving of Pluvinel by Simon Passaeus, an engraving of du Roy by de Passe and the publishing page with the permission of the king for reproduction and 47 double plates of copper engravings with wood-cut frames/borders by Chrispijn de Passe II, giving a complete pictorial course on horse-riding, including fighting on horse-back. Jean Volpato et Jean Ottaviani, Loges de Raphael. Nouvelle Edition. Impressive book with apprx 44 engravings depicting sections of architecture and painting within the Vatican. Three parts, published in Rome in 1770, 1776 and 1777. Part one is entitled "Aux Amatuers de Beaux Arts." French text with 17 plates, numbered I-XIII with two unmarked plates and two plates marked "A" and "B." Most plates can be unfolded from either left or right side, however one plate can be unfolded from both sides. Tissue between engravings. Red cloth binding with gilt lettering stamped on front cover. Part two is entitled "Seconde Parte Delle Logge di Rafaele Nel Vaticano Che Contiene XIII, Volte ed I Loro. Respettivi Quadri, Pubblicata in Roma L'anno MDCCLXXVI." This section contains 14 plates, one with the title page, and thirteen additional engravings of the Vatican. All plates are folded in half and supported with adhesive cloth. Part three is entitled "Terza ed Ultima Parte Delle Logge di Rafaele Nel Vaticano Che Continene il Compimento Degli Ornati,ede' Bassirilievi Antichi Esistenti nelle Logge Medesime, Pubblicata en Roma, L'anno MDCCLXXVII." This section has thirteen engravings. One is located on the title page with twelve fold out engravings. Numbers 3, 5 and 7 have been trimmed so numbers are barely visible. Overall this volume measures apprx 21" wide x 29" tall. From the estate of a Countess Michaela Almeida of Austria, from Moondsee, Austria.
