| 214. Chartola Grand Company Mandolin-Guitar, Early 20th Century
A cousin to the "guitar-zither", this item was produced starting in 1910 by the Chartola Grand Company in Jersey City. Originally patented by Friederich Menzenhauer in 1894 with partner Oscar Schmidt. Schmidt then became associated with the Chartola Co. Wood body with applied and varnished decals, double strings and bass and chord strings. Three brass feet and attached wall hanging gear for decoration.
