| 164. Barbara Olsen (American, b.1956)
"Oliver in Concert". Pastels on paper. Barbara Olsen, a contemporary American artist, is most well-known for her work as a children's book illustrator as well as her naive folk art. Olsen claims her inspiration came from an exhibit of American quilts at the Oakland Museum in the mid-1970's. "Oliver in Concert" is a charming depiction of a tabby cat dressed in blue polka-dot pants and a striped sweater. A sheer white curtain is drawn to reveal Oliver playing a cello. This work is signed "Barbara Olsen, '87" in the lower left corner. The title is located on the right side of the paper. Image measures apprx 21-1/2" x 27".
