311. Dresden Center Compote

Dresden porcelain center compote features a stem-like base adorned with two figures playing musical instruments. The stem of the compote has applied flowers and leaves. Compote on top has gilded ornamentation, reticulated decoration and seashell accents. Overall measures apprx 14" x 10". Compote can be unscrewed from base. Underside of base features the hallmark of Dresden porcelain. Dresden porcelain was introduced by Carl August Kuntzsch in 1872. After Kuntzsch's death his sons Carl August and Emil took over the Dresden Company.
