404. Commentarius in Harmoniam Sive Concordiam Quatuor Evangelistarum, Apparatus Chronologicus et Geographicus

Otherwise known as (Bernard) Lamy's ((1640-1715) Bible. Paris: Published by Joannes Anisson, 1699. Second edition (first published as "Harmonia, sive concordia quatuor evangelistarum" 1689). Two volumes, full calf leather with inserted title component, tooling and raised bands on spines. Red speckled edges. Volume I, 660 pp. Volume II, 326 pp. Latin text small roman types, including Italic, Greek, and Hebrew. Ornamentations include an ornate woodcut fleur-de-lis on the title-page. Volume II, 326 pp., contains the Apparatus Chronologicus et Geographicus, including descriptions with three fold out map/plates of Judea, a plan of Jerusalem and a plan of the temple. Exlibris plate at upper left interior of front end board from the Bollandianum Museaum. Measures apprx 8" x 10".

At the time, Lamy's unpopular suggestion that Jesus died on the eve of the Passover, at the same time as killing of the Passover lamb as opposed to the first day of the Passover is now considered correct by todays biblical scholars.
