303. German Officer's Platinum Cigarette Case


Platinum cigarette case measuring apprx 3"x 3-1/2" with a bezel set, oval clasp. Interior is stamped "Platin" in two places, once on the rim and also on the base of the interior bar. A hand written note was found in the lining of the case "L. Rosen Wwe, Hoflieferant, Berlin W.8, (124dwt)". Overall weight is 6.2 Troy oz. In brown fabric holder.

Either Baccarat or Val St. Lambert. A custom ordered etched casket with gilt bronze Dore mounts, mirrored bottom and hinged lid. Scrolled and bun bronze feet with gilt. Hebrew lettering translates to "Watch Tower". Finely carved panels with three major works; the front panel has a face, bird in flight, two trumpets, wreath, torch and vines; top panel has crossed wheat and branch in an oval bay wreath, toped with a bird; the back panel has a stringed instrument, grotesque face, upside-down torch, hunters bow and arrows, "eye" and ribbon in a bow. The sides have geometric patterns with branches. Etched borders of leaves and berries on each panel. Unsigned, measures apprx 7-1/2" H x 12" W x 8" D.

Figures of St. Elisabeth and St. Lucille, cast silver, however hallmarks not found at date of posting. Carved ivory faces and hands, both figures crowned, one holding a scepter. Reticulated bases adorned with cabochon stones along with name plaques. Both apprx 6-1/4" T.

"Made in France", a brass or possibly bronze and enameled pocket size atomizer set with sixteen accent rubies and one larger ruby set into depression button. Small oblong shapes and circles filled with a medium green color enamel. Twisted braided circles encompass the prong set rubies. Safety chain attached to threaded cap on side of body. Threaded larger cap on top. Verso has applied star burst stamped with "Made In France". Apprx 2-1/4" T x 1-3/4" W.

Includes an enameled lipstick holder and pressed powder compact. Lipstick holder has an overall incised bright cut design of scrolling feathers on gold washed sterling. Enameled vignette depicts a lady and the clasp is a cabochon lapis lazuli. Lipstick case has a small hinged mirror. Interior stamped "800". Measures apprx 2-1/4" L x 3/4" W. Sterling compact has a reverse, hand painted view of Italy on lid, verso is a quilted pattern. Inside the compact is a small round mirror, puff and pressed, scented powder. Interior is engraved with the intials "D.F. to R. R. H.", stamped "925" in three areas, in two places along with other stamps. Measures apprx 1-3/4" square.

The first is a square sterling silver snuff box with a repousse border of vines, bordered with hand work. Gold wash on marked European sterling with several hallmarks. Hinged lid has a prong set, hand painted porcelain tile. Verso of tile numbered "30", overall apprx 1-1/4" square x 3/4"H. Lipstick compact is bright cut sterling with gold wash, hinged lid and interior mirror. Lid is stenciled and hand painted, case marked "800" sterling, overall apprx 2-1/4"L x 3/4".

European bright cut sterling silver compact with hinged lid has blue enamel which has the appearance of marble in eight sections. The carved inserted center depicts a figure surrounded by a deer and a boar within scrolling vines. Probably celluloid, however not tested, it has a brown wash to bring out carved/molded details. This area has a rounded bay leave border in high relief. Bright cut sterling silver compact had been gold washed on exterior. Internal gold wash still very bright. Interior of compact has a beveled mirror and gold wash is still nice and bright, stamped "800". Measures apprx 2-3/4" x 3-1/4".

Bright cut sterling silver compact with gold wash and hinged, enameled lid. Diamond shaped with scalloped edges, lid has a stenciled and hand painted scene of cherubs. Eight accents of enamel border the scene, decorated to appear like malachite. Interior of lid with European silver hallmarks, including "800" and a "swann". Overall apprx 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 6/18".

An Italian bright cut sterling and gold washed compact with enameled hinged lid. Enameled scene of lovers is stenciled and hand painted. Six surrounding enamel areas painted to mimic marble. Interior has a beveled mirror with a gold toned decorative liner mat. Interior stamped 800 and "falachi firenze". This piece measures apprx 3-1/4" H x 2-1/4" W.

Another Italian bright cut sterling compact with bright gold wash and enameled hinged lid. Scalloped cartouche is stenciled and hand decorated with enamel "marble" inserts. Sides and verso with details in gold wash. Interior has gold wash with a scalloped liner for mirror. Overall this piece measures apprx 3-1/2" square.
