War document printed on vellum and hand inscribed with the details of service and injury of a solder. Signed "Bonaparte in lower margin, left of center, legibly. Also signed by the secretary and minister of war. Includes embossed seal of the department, attached with a clip, red wax on verso. Apprx 12-1/2" x 9-1/4" overall.

636. Harrison Fisher (American, 1877-1934) Color Lithograph, Signed by Lillian Russell (American, 1862-1922)
A "Red Cross Nurse", color lithograph designed by Harrison Fisher and autographed "Truly yours Lillian Russell" in black ink. Printed with paper, backed by thin paper board. Signed in design by the artist. Apprx overall 21" H x 25" W. During World War I, Lillian worked enthusiastically for the Red Cross and Liberty Bonds and later spoke out for women's rights and judicial reform. Fisher made a name for himself in the history of American illustration due to his ability to paint beautiful women. His "Fisher Girl" and, more specifically, his "American Girl", became the epitome of American beauty during the first quarter of the 20th century.
