502. A Japanese Tanto, c. 1870-1930
Small oriental sword made from hand-carved bone in segments, depicting various figures interacting in a courtyard setting including buildings, walkways, clouds and birds. Black pigment accentuates the fine detail with hints of red pigment in reserved areas. Blade is of untempered, soft steel and is very sharp, apprx 14-1/2" L. Attached to handle is a red cord, through a pierced attachment. Measures overall apprx 24-1/4" L x 1-1/2" W.

503. A Lot of Two Tantos, c. 1870-1930
Pair of carved bone daggers feature carved figures, mountains and flowers. Carved in segments. Both blades are of untempered, soft steel. The small dagger measures apprx 7-1/4" L x 1" W. Larger dagger measures apprx 11-1/2" L x 1" W.

Impressive and intricately carved Japanese long sword, typically worn slung from a sword belt. Like the katana, the tachi has a single-edged curved blade. Sword features detailed figures in a landscape setting with flower design on lower edge of handle. This sword measures apprx 49" L x 2" W.

506. Large Rose Medallion Planter
Impressive Rose Medallion planter has a scrolling wooden base. White glaze porcelain has been hand-painted with pink and light green and gold floral designs. Four windows depict scenes from court life. One window shows two entertainers dancing for a pair of figures, with a scribe in the background. Another window shows the same entertainers performing for a royal couple. Third and fourth windows show an oriental vase filled with blossoming flowers and surrounded by birds and butterflies. Interior of this planter is painted with exotic goldfish and plant life. Planter measures apprx 30" H x 20" W. Base measures apprx 11" H x 14" W.

507. A Baluster Form Vase, C. Qhing Dynasty
C. Late 19th century Chinese vase is made from glazed porcelain. Blue vines are set against a white background. Accented with lotus blossoms and chinese lettering. Vase has a flared rim and is signed in blue chinese lettering on verso. Vase measures apprx 16" H x 9" W. Verso also has a sticker with the number 147. Provenance: ex-collection of Mr. Gordon K. Mott, Cleveland.

508. Impressive Satsuma Floor Vase, C. Late 19th Century
Impressive Satsuma earthenware vase features an overall design in shades of beige, navy, deep red and gold. Raised patterning detailed in gold. The figures of three men are visible on the front of the vase. Ribbon like feature has been added to both sides of the vase. Overall measures apprx 42" H x 16" W.

509. A Pair of Japanese Gilt Vases, C. 19th Century
Vases have scenes of a lovely woman dressed in a kimono. She carries a basket in her hands and looks back over her shoulder. Second vase features a scene with a royal woman seated in a throne with a flower-adorned sceptor. Remaining sections of the first vase feature a scenes of a mother bird drinking from a pond and the second vase has baby birds in a nest, both with various flowers and foliage. Vases signed with Japanese characters on verso. Each vase measures apprx 10" H x 5" W.

510. Japanese Carved Ivory, c. 19th Century
Delicately carved, small ivory depicting a snake eating a rat within a gourd shell. Much attention has been paid to the texture of the snake's skin. Applied black pigment has been rubbed onto surface to bring out the carved details. This piece measures apprx 1-3/4" L x 2-1/2" W.

511. An Antique Chinese Condiment Set, c. 19th Century
The box has a glass lid with an etched design that had been originally painted, however paint has worn away. The condiment set located within the box is composed of seven separate trays, each hand-painted with cranes and flowers. Each piece fits within the box in a certain order, forming a sort of puzzle. Upper rim is accented with gold. Overall the box measures apprx 11" H x 11" W. Includes a certificate of identity from the Hong Kong Art Group, dated 1977, certifying that this item is an antique.
