424. Royal Doulton Double Handled Vase

This Royal Doulton double handled porcelain vase has been delicately hand painted with gold scrolls against a deep blue background. Body of the vase has a shiny white glaze accented with a bouquet of hand-painted blue flowers. Verso is stamped "Royal Doulton, Burslem, England." The number 6258 has been impressed into verso. Overall this vase measures apprx 8" H x 5" W.

In 1878, Sir Henry Doulton purchased Pinder, Bourne and Company of Burslem. Then, in 1882, the company became Doulton and Company, Ltd, when a second factory was built in Burslem which still continues to produce the famous figurines, jugs, and table wares. Porcelain production and earthenware production was added to its offerings in 1884. Doulton figures were made at the Burslem plants from 1890 until 1978.
