| 554. Set of Four Mercury Glass Vases, c. 19th Century
Mercury glass was originally considered the "poor man's silver" however in recent years it has become very collectible. Mercury glass was made by pouring a thin coat of silver between two layers of blown glass. The blown glass technique allowed the pieces to be made into a variety of shapes including candlesticks and vases. The glass has a unique depth and luster that is valuable to collectors. This collection includes two larger vases measuring apprx 9-1/4" H and 9-1/2" each and two small candlesticks apprx 4-3/4" T and 5-1/4" T each. Two have London stickers on verso from AMC. 150/250 Sold $235.75 back to catalog |
