| 466. Japy Freres Mantle Clock & Garniture Set, French c. late 19th Century
This French garniture has a gilded bronze base with a porcelain body. Body features a vignette of a young man proposing to a young lady. The front of the clock has roman numerals with a small cherub playing within. Flanking the timepiece are two small urns hand painted in bright blue and gold. A lantern is located at the top. Lantern has ornate scrolling arms. Clock measures apprx 18" H x 12" W. The movements within the clock are stamped with the name "Japy Freres & Co." Also stamped inside the movements is the medallion of honor. Accompanying the clock are two decorative sculptures. These feature an urn atop a gilded bronze base. Old Paris urns have additional vignettes of a mother with her child, and a woman teaching a child how to paint. These sculptural elements measure apprx 15" H x 7". W.
