Another charming bronze sculpture by the German artist Siggy Puchta. This piece depicts a bronze seal atop a gray marble base. Signed in bronze "S". Sticker on verso reads "Siggy Puchta, No. 12". Sticker is partially torn away but it is known to be from a series of 250. Measures apprx 2-1/2" H x 3" W.
Born in Germany, Siggy Puchta came to Canada in 1953 at the age of nineteen. Son of a woodcarver, he took an early interest in the art of modeling and sculpturing. Committed to capturing the action and beauty of his subjects, he is driven to keep creating sculptures whether they are in wood, stone or bronze.
