| 238. A Signed Quezal Shade & Desk Lamp, c. Early 20th Century
Art nouveau style lamp is signed "Quezal" on glass lamp shade. Exterior of shade has green and gold tulip shape with yellow interior. Attached to brass body with S-shaped attachment. Body of lamp is accented with brass leaves. Body is painted green with brass accent. No markings on body. Overall this lamp measures apprx 16" H x 9" W. The Quezal Art Glass & Decorating Company, founded in Queens, NY, in 1902, was named for an extremely rare, beautiful Central American bird. The male is intense emerald and golden green with red belly and a tail of iridescent blues and greens. Quezal glass is among the best produced at the turn of the last century rivaling Tiffany at the time, and was highly prized. The factory closed in 1924. 200/300 Sold $575.00 back to catalog |
