| 497. "La Dame au Parasol", Chinese Export Plate For The Dutch East India Co., c. 1745-1750
A transitional plate painted after a design by Cornelis Pronk, depicting an Oriental lady and her parasol-bearing attendant watching three colorful waterbirds. The plate, with a honeycomb diaper border reserved with vignettes of figures and waterfowl on the rim. Painting in underglaze-blue, iron-red, brown and gilding. The underside of the rim is painted in underglaze-blue with seven insects. Footed rim is triangular and slightly glazed. Verso has sticker from Elinor Gordon.
