627. The Works of William Hogarth

Rev. John Trusler, The Works of William Hogarth: In Series of Engravings: With Descriptions, and a Comment on Their Moral Tendancy. London: Jones & Co, 1833. Frontispiece is a portrait of Hogarth engraved by S Freeman, protected by tissue paper. Volume I has 64 engravings. Green and red marbled end boards with 3/4 deep green leather binding. Spine stamped in gold with floral bands and title.

One of two volumes of engraved reproductions of Hogarth's satirical paintings with descriptions and a comment on their moral tendency by the Rev John Trusler plus anecdotes of the author and his works by J Hogarth and J Nichols.
