630. Two Chinese Textile Fragemts, Late 19th/Early 20th Century


The first is a sewn pouch-bag with handle and tassle with four metal medallions. Decorated with dragons on both sides, bats and water in border. Apprx 11-1/2" without tassle x 9-1/2". The second appears to be a collar, sewn of gold thread with dyed silk in peach, green and pink. It is directional with flowers, overall apprx 23" x 7" at body, 13"W at tapered end.

Pair of metal, possibly bronze, Japanese studio vases. First vase has applied flower and branch pattern. Measures apprx 8-1/2" H x 6-1/2" W with no visible signatures or markings. Second vase has a geometric shape and is marked on verso with a Japanese symbol. Measures apprx 9" H x 5" W.

Cast brass(?) or bronze wall plaque features the bust of a Japanese woman dressed in a traditional kimono. Her dark hair is accented by the figure of an exotic bird. Face and background painted in gold. This piece has no visible markings and measures apprx 17-1/2" H x 13" W.

Impressive hand-painted Japanese egg features an overall pattern of leaves and pears with two vignettes on each side. These scenes depicts three Japanese figures within a bedroom setting. A stippled chicken skin surface texture is located throughout the entire egg. Signed with single red character on verso. This egg comes with a carved wooden base. Measures apprx 14-1/2" H x 10" W. Base measures apprx 5" H x 5-1/2" W.

Large Japanese jardinere has an overall design of exotic birds and colorful oriental flowers. Stippled dots along the upper rim create a chicken-skin texture. The interior of this jardinere features designs of charming goldfish and aquatic plants. Verso marked in Japanese characters "Not for Food Use, May Poison Food". This jardinere measures apprx 13" H x 14-1/2" W. Jardinere comes with a red lacquer stand measuring apprx 6-1/2" H x 11" W.

Pair of lidded Japanese jars feature court scenes with servants and nobility. Overall design of flowers, butterflies and other exotic insects. Lids have bulb-shaped gilded finials. Verso is marked in red with Japanese characters. Sticker on verso also indicates that these jars are not to be used for the storing of food, as glazes may be poisonous. Jars measure apprx 12-1/4" H x 9" W. Simple wooden bases measure apprx 2" H x 9" W.

Pair of oriental-inspired papier mache figures include a figure of an oriental man dressed in blue robes. His mouth is open and he appears to be singing. The second figure features a dark skinned woman dressed in deep red robes. Both figures are unmarked and unsigned. The male figure measures apprx 4" H x 2-1/4" W. The female figure measures apprx 4-1/4" H x 3-1/2" W.

639. Japanese Lantern and Candle Stand


Japanese lantern is has a wooden base with metal candle holder. A curved bamboo handle accents the body of this lantern. The shade is made from cream-colored rice paper with bamboo accents in a star burst pattern. Measures apprx 15-1/2" H x 7" W. The candle stand features a tripod base made from curved bamboo, attached to a rounded wooden base. Bamboo is gathered at top, and accented with a metal section which can be used to hold a candle. Measures apprx 14-1/4" H x 5-1/2" W.
