22. Bernard Cobbe (British, active C.1868-1883) "The Pretty Miscreant" or "The Priests Advice". Oil on canvas, signed "B. Cobbe", lower right. This Spanish scene shows a priest with two pretty ladies sitting in an outdoor terrace with shadows encroaching in the foreground. The face of the lady to the right is particularly finely painted. A small name plate in script is attached to frame. Cobbe exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street.
