"The Pretty Miscreant" or "The Priests Advice". Oil on canvas, signed "B. Cobbe", lower right. This Spanish scene shows a priest with two pretty ladies sitting in an outdoor terrace with shadows encroaching in the foreground. The face of the lady to the right is particularly finely painted. A small name plate in script is attached to frame. Cobbe exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street. Canvas size apprx 26-1/2" x 36", overall with frame apprx 33-1/2" x 44".

"Rural Landscape". Oil on board, signed lower right. Fournier is known as the most influential painter of the Arts and Crafts movement. Elbert Hubbard was his biggest patron and Fournier was well loved by his fellow Roycrofter's in New York. Image size apprx 5-3/4" x 10", overall with frame apprx 12-1/4" x 16-1/2".

This charming landscape depicts sheep at pasture with stone fence and small farm visible in the distance. Oil on canvas, initialed "J.F.M." lower right corner. Canvas measures apprx 11" H x 15" W. Overall with ornate wood and gilt frame apprx 16" H x 20" W. Tag on verso indicates that this painting has been "cleaned, relined and repaired on October 6, 1972".

"Landscape with a lake". A Barbizon-style oil on canvas, in the manner of Corot, bears a signature in lower right corner. Canvas measures apprx 10-1/8" H x 12-1/2" W. With decoratively carved bronzed frame this painting measures apprx 17" H x 19-1/2" W. Lot includes black and white, and, one color transparencies along with glossy detailed prints of the painting done by the Cleveland Museum of Art, dating c. 1985. Also included, "Corot, Extraordinary Landscapes" by Vincent Pomarede and Gerard de Wallens, translated pocket version.
