270. Grouping of Senufo Items, C. Late 19th/Early 20th Century This grouping of Senufo items includes a fertility figure, a figural staff and a beaded water gourd. First figure is carved from wood and is highly stylized with a protruding belly. The hands on this figure have been broken off. Figure measures apprx 35" x 6". Smaller fertility figure is a female with a protruding, pregnant belly. She cups her breast with both hands. This figure is seated on a stool. She has scarification throughout the body as well as on the face. This figure measures apprx 20" x 7". The third item in this grouping is a water gourd with leather strap. Strap is decorated with tiny cowrie shells and multi-colored beads. Gourd measures apprx 23" x 5". 100/300 Sold: $69.00 |
