680. 19th Century French Wallpaper Sample
19th century French wallpaper sample, from the Alsace region of France. This is a combination of block printing and roller printing. The teal background was printed in apprx 1845. Probably has gold dust mixed into the yellow accents. This sample has an overall teal background with red urns filled with white flowers. Accented by yellow and red floral vines and drapery. Wallpaper is marked "2489 Germinal, Zuber & Cle. (Alsace) Patent Applied For". Measures apprx 32" H x 19-1/2" W.

681. Architectural Wallpaper Border, French, C. 1800
Early 19th century French wallpaper sample features two borders of architectural and floral designs. Due to the monochromatic color palette and style these border samples are consistent with the styles of the French designer Xavier Mader and the manufacturer DuFour, dating from apprx 1810. The first sample measures apprx 10" H x 9-1/2" W. The second wallpaper sample measures apprx 7-1/4" H x 19-1/2" W.

682. French Floral Wallpaper Borders, C. 1810
Pair of block printed floral wallpaper borders are dated on paper, c. 1850, however may actually date from around 1810, due to the high number of colors used in each border. After 1830 this particular style was no longer in fashion, but returned in the 1850's with fewer colors. These borders were very likely produced by the manufacturer Riottot et Pacon. The first border is forest green with a chintz print of pink and yellow roses. This border measures apprx 5-1/4" H x 26" W. Second border has a velvety design of lilacs and pink roses. Measures apprx 3-3/4" H x 22" W.

683. Pair of Architectural French Wallpaper Samples, C. 1880's
Pair of block printed French architectural wallpaper samples are from the manufacturers Zuber and Lapeyre. The grey monochrome is accented by gilt painted vines and architectural elements. This is a "Fontaine Bleu" design that is consistent with the designs of Victor Poterlet in the 1840's. This sample measures apprx 39" H x 19-3/4" W. Second paper sample has gray flocked over navy blue. Architectural design of feathers and flowers. This is a design from Zuber, dated c. 1828. Measures apprx 9-1/2" H x 25" W.
