626. A Peking Stitched Pane, C. 19th Century

Told to have been part of a priest's garment, this fine example of the "Peking Stitch" is framed under glass and has a gallery sticker on verso from the Mayer Gallery, Cleveland, Ohio (no longer in existence). Silk fabric in cream with colorful thread work and gold thread work for ladies head pieces. Black damask border, edged with green silk. Fabric measures apprx 21" x 6", framed apprx 25" x 9-1/2".
