88. Bernardo Parentino (Italian 1437-1531)

A page from a collector's album is attributed to Italian artist Bernardo Parentino. Collector's album included various sketches and drawings executed in brown ink with red wash. The album is known as the Moscardo Album, belonging to the the Veronese family. This drawing is dated c. 1482 and entitled "Putti Dancing Around a Vase" or "Grimacing Cherubs". Drawings from the album were exhibited in Munich in 1977. This drawing from the album measures apprx 7-1/2" x 8", on chained lined and water marked with a bow and arrow. A collectors blind stamp located at lower left corner, possibly "HL" or "FL" in a squared stamp. Perimeter of paper has been adhered to wove paper to protect the edges and this has archival tape where it's been tipped onto backing mat board.
