"The Letter". Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1913 along with city name, "Bremen", at lower right. From a series of paintings by the artist documenting this couple's correspondence with family. On the dining table are typical items such a stein, pastry and utensils. Tiny flies dot the table cloth. The original "letter" held in her hands has been cut out and replaced with another. Therefore there is inpainting of her hands and perimeter of cut. Apprx 39" x 49", with frame apprx 43-1/2" x 53-1/2".
