This brilliant red translucent enameled minaudiere features a gold design of acanthus leaves and fleurs-de-lis. Four lockets containing 18th century scenes are guarded by double headed Imperial eagles and laurel wreaths. Simulated pearls surround the lockets and top the fluted golden columns. Egg is adorned with golden garlands and bows and topped with a large Austrian crystal. This purse is a reproduction of one from the Forbes Imperial Collection of works by Fabrege. Marked on hinged clasp "Vivian Alexander". Interior is lined with cream-colored silk. Purse comes with a cream silk change pouch with cloisonne bead accent. Interior is also marked "Vivian Alexander". Comes with a twisted gold rope strap. Egg measures apprx 6" H x 4-1/2" W. Strap measures apprx 49" L.
The Vivian Alexander Corporation was co-founded by Alexander Caldwell and Vivian Tullos. The small company made its mark by creating elegant minaudieres (evening bags) in the style of Peter Carl Faberge. Each handbag is signed on the back foot of the egg.
