This pair of portraits features a typical Mexican girl and an older Mexican gentleman. Both portraits have artist's signature in lower right corner. Verso of canvas with girl is signed "Typical Mexican Girl at Oaxaca, Mexico". Also signed "Edgardo Coghlan, 12, Julio, 1959. AV Revolucion 424-8, Mexico 18 DF, Mexico". The verso of the gentleman's portrait is signed "Painted at Oaxaca, Mexico". Also marked "Edgardo Coghlan, 12 Julio 1959. AV Revolucion 424-8, Mexico 18 DF, Mexico". Canvas measures apprx 10" H x 8-1/4" W. With varnished frame these paintings measure apprx 13" H x 11" W. Edgardo Coghlan was born in Mochis, Sinaloa in 1928 and died in 1995. Although he was most well known for his watercolors he also had success with techniques such as oil and charcoal.
