61. William C. Grauer (American, 1895-1985)

"Four Horsemen", a whimsical oil on artist's board, signed lower right. Grauer was primarily known for his murals and landscape paintings. This painting is a cubist rendition of four medieval horsemen attended by numerous robed figures. Artist's board measures apprx 42" H x 33" W. Overall size is apprx 45" H x 36" W. Purchasd directly from the artist and fresh to the market.

Grauer studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Arts. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Worlds Fair New York (1939), Whitney Museum of Art, and Syracuse Museum of Fine Art. He was an illustrator and muralist, and taught at the Western Reserve University, Cleveland, in the late 1930s.
