188. John Sokol (American, b. 1947)

"Dante as the Inferno", silkscreen on paper, numbered 3 of 50. Signed and dated 1980. Paper apprx 30" x 22", overall with frame apprx 33" x 25-1/4". Born in Canton, Ohio, Sokol's work is in the permanent collections of the Akron Art Museum and the Canton Art Museum. He received his Masters Degree from Kent State University (1973) in Painting and Sculpture.  John then began writing and publishing short stories and poetry, such as "Kissing the Bees" (Redgreene Press, Pittsburgh, PA, 1999), "A Thousand Years from Nowhere" (Pudding House Publications, Johnstown, OH, 2002) and "In the Summer of Cancer" (Endymion Press, Los Angeles, 2003).
