569. Herend Queen Victoria Collection Hand-Painted Tea Service

Herend hand-painted tea service consists of six tea cups, six saucers, one bud vase, one sugar container, one heart bonbonniere and two small trays. All pieces have been painted with colorful flowers and butterflies. The sugar containers have delicate roses. Each piece is marked with the blue Herend hallmark. Tea cups measure apprx 2"H x 3-1/4"W, saucers measure apprx 4-3/4" in diameter, bud vase measures apprx 3-1/4"H x 4"W, biscuit trays measure apprx 5"L x 4"W, the small sugar container measures apprx 4"H x 5"W and the heart bonbonniere measures apprx 4-1/2"H x 5-1/4"W.

The original set was introduced in 1851 at the First World Exhibition in London. It was purchased by Queen Victoria herself and therefore named after her. The Chinese-influenced pattern displays the skills of Herend's most talented and experienced painters.
