| 566. Stuart Gray (American, 20th Century)
A hand crafted 4-3/4" tall ginger jar shaped container with a turned walnut lid. The glaze is called powder blue and this type of work is called "Crystalline Porcelain". It is a zinc-silicate crystal in a field of potash, soda or lime glass and fired on a base of high temperature porcelain bisque. This process dates back to the late Ming Dynasty, however it is seldom seen due to the extreme precision required in the glaze formulation and firing cycle. Bottom is signed by the artist and numbered 130. 150/250 Sold $126.50 back to catalog |
