Oil on canvas, signed lower left "A. Schi..t 1857". A beautiful portrait of a woman in a black silk and brocade shawl with lace collar and possibly a mourning brooch. Stylized hair typical of the period. Verso has either seller or framers tag in Dutch with personnal inscription in ink. In period gilt frame, canvas apprx 15-1/2" x 12-1/2".
