Proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Paintings and Drawings Society of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Set of six signed, framed lithographs from "Les Grimaces" series, under glass. Lithographs are numbered 2/7 and each features five faces, both male and female, in various humorous contortions. Prints are framed with a linen textured mat with an oval opening and a dark wood frame. Entire item measures apprx 15-1/2" x 12".

144. Set of George Cruikshank Prints (British, circa 1827)
Proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Paintings and Drawings Society of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Seven framed prints from the series "Illustrations of Time", framed under glass. These are political caricatures of "Time Radly Employed", "Term Time", "Christmas Time", "Behind Time", "Time Called and Time Come", and "Time Thrown Away". All are matted with black and off white linen textured mat and a silver painted frame. Three frames have stylized leaf patten, the others have a rougher texture. All measure apprx 14-1/2"H x 18-1/2"L.

145. A Lot of Two Societe des Aquafortistes Etchings by Jean Alexandre Joseph Falguiere, (French, 1831-1900) and Theodule Augustin Ribot (French 1823-1891)
"Deux Idiots Mendiants" by Jean Alexandre Joseph Falguiere, a 19th Century Societe des Aquafortistes etching on tissue. The Societe des Aqua Fortistes was founded by the French publisher A. Cadart. Image apprx 10" x 6-7/8", overall paper apprx 14-1/2" x 9-3/4". Lot also includes a second Societe des Aqua Fortistes tissue etching by Theodule Augustin Ribot, titled Le Recette du Cuisinier (The cooks recipe), originally made circa 1870-1875. Image apprx 9" x 6-1/2", paper apprx 15-1/2" x 10-1/2".

Titles included in lot: "The Comforts of a Cabriolet! or, The Advantages of Driving Hoodwink'd!!", "Anglo-Gallic Salutations in London or Practice makes perfect", "A Visit to Cockney Farm__ Viewing the Ground", "The Piccadily Nuisance!", "Anglo- Parisian Salutations". Two black and white stipple engravings on heavy paper. First is titled "Il Babbuino A Gambe Lunghe" with "Seconda classe" on lower left and "Tavola XIII". Second is titled "Il Maki de Fronte Bianca" with "Sezion I. Lemur albifrons. Tavola VII" on the bottom. Italian, ca. 1814. Plate size apprx 12-1/4" X 8-1/4". 148. Attributed to Elihu Vedder (American, 1836-1923)
Pencil on brown paper with white pastel highlights, unframed, paper size apprx 9-1/2" x 12". Elihu Vedder is famous for his illustrations in Edward FitzGerald's 19th Century translation of "The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam". He also did sketches for Vanity Fair and was involved in the 'In Arte Libertas' group, inspired by Gabriele D'Annunzio in Rome. The Cleveland Museum of Art exhibited a Vedder paintng in their recent exhibit, "The Gilded Age".

149. George Pinwell (British, 1842-1975)
Outdoor Scene with Figures. Graphite and watercolor on paper. George John Pinwell was a highly regarded British illustrator. This picture depicts a tender scene of a young family seated outdoors. The mother, wearing a pink head cloth, holds her swaddled infant while gazing at her husband. Paint is very delicately applied. Signed GPJ, and year, 1857, on lower right corner. Very nicely framed with French matting and decorative, carved and painted frame. Extensive biographical information on verso. Measures apprx 21" x 16-1/2".

150. Edwin Earp (British, 1851-1945)
Set of lovely horizontal lake views. Watercolor on paper, framed. Edwin Earp is best know for his highland landscapes most often with bodies of water. The painting has a quaint 2-D feeling almost like children's book illustrations. One features a single boat with white sails at center, the second includes more boats and mountains. Both signed on lower right hand corner. Paper measures apprx 19-1/2" x 10-1/2". On verso, artist's name and dates. With simple gold painted wooden frame, paintings measure apprx 21-1/2" x 12-1/2".

Intaglio print, inked by hand in two colors on soft wove paper. Achieving a remarkable similarity to a real fern plant, paper is slightly embossed to seem like a collection of pressed plants. The botanical names are given at bottom: A. Cystopteris fragilis, B. C. regia, C. C. montana. Published by Victorian publisher Bradbury & Evans. Print measures apprx 21" x 14-1/2". Simple watercolor on paper depicting an autumnal forest scene. Thomas Moses was a well known American scenic artist. The composition of this painting is tastefully off center and features two seasonal trees; one with green leaves with the other with brown. Background color is a light beige and pencil lines are visible. Signed on lower left corner "Thos. G. Moses 1900". Painting measures apprx 13-1/4" x 9-1/2". Mat appears to have been ochre colored but painted over with white. Frame is basic painted dark gold wood. On verso is artist's name and dates. Entire item measures apprx 20" x 15-1/2".
