Decorative rosewood stand features carved wood base in "Greek Key" pattern. Top is three separate squares with wood frame and pink veined marble inset. Measures apprx 7-1/2"H x 27-1/2"L x 8"W.

609. Chinese Silk Tapestry, circa Late 18th/early 19th Century
Beautiful hand-stitched silk piece of a playful scene of court life with figures and animals. Elements of the landscape such as the orange sun and tea leaves are embroidered as well as the architectural aspects of a pagoda. On bottom are embroidered images of playing children. Stitching is tiny, delicate and precise, including the "forbidden" stitch. Peach silk background is intricately bordered by bands of beautiful ribbons and fringed with delicate knot work in multi colors. Backed with powder blue silk. Measures apprx (with out fringe) 25-1/4" L x 20"W.

Shiny, maroon lacquered document box from China. Has simple brass handles on both sides and a latch on front. Measures apprx 5"H x 25-2/3"W x 23-1/2"L. Sits upon a black lacquered modern stand. Base is geometric in design. Entire item stands 19-1/2"H.

611. Tibetan Prayer Wheels
Pair of Tibetan prayer wheels. In Buddhist practice, wheels are instruments of prayer helping to achieve spiritual purification. The wheel is made of repousee metal and are penetrated along its axis by a wooden or metal handle. A ballastered chain helps it to spin. Inside cylinder, written on paper or skin, are esoteric texts. Each turn of the cylinder generates merit. One wheel has blue enamel detailing on top, the other has red. Each prayer wheel measures apprx 11-1/2" long.

Finely stitched image of a crane on a brown silk background cloth, under glass. Bird stands on one leg above a fish and shell in water executed with shiny thread. The sky is filled with a blue pattern and various emblems. Border is an alternating pattern of swirls and stylized shapes. The delicate cloth is framed on grey fabric and with a textured gold painted wood frame. Entire item measures apprx 17-1/4" x 16-1/4".
