Three Icones Anatomicae from De humani corporis fabrica libri septem. [On the Fabric of the Human Body] Book Two -- All the ligaments and muscles, instruments of voluntary and deliberate motion. Commonly referred to as muscle-men. Numbered in upper right corners: 8, 9, 14. Initialed on T.I.D. and D.B.S. on bottom center. Printed on laid paper with an anchor watermark. Plate impression measures apprx 13-3/4" x 8-1/4". Entire paper sheet measures apprx 16" x 10-1/2".

166. A Lot Including an Engraving and an Etching
Proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Paintings and Drawings Society of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Lot includes two framed prints, both under glass. The first is "The Adirondack Woods" after a painting by J.M. Hart. The engraving was done by R. Hinshelwood and published by D. Appleton & Co. in New York. The scene is of a landscape with deer resting by the side of a stream. With off-white mat and black frame, print measures apprx 14" x 12-1/4". Second item is a signed etching, "Evensong" by B.G. Mathews. Shows a night-time church procession executed in fine hatch marks. With off-white mat and thin black frame entire piece measures measures apprx 20" x 16".

"Karlskirche (Vienna)". Framed mezzotint on paper, under glass. Hoernes is from a well-know family of Austrian artists (Luigi Kasimor and family). All are best know for European city-views. This picture depicts the grand Baroque church, Karlskirche, with figures walking by. The turquoise color dome stands out against a gray cloudy sky. Signed on lower right. Second is an autumnal landscape of houses and figures close to a body of water on which sail boats glide. It is signed Le Baron (French artist; Desves Augusta La Baron) on right side. 176. Rufino Tamayo (Mexican, 1899-1991)
Profile of a Woman. Limited edition lithograph on paper, framed. Tamayo was a contemporary of Diego Rivera, was one of the most well know Mexican artist of the 20th century. As well as a painter, he was a prolific print maker interested in creating prints that possessed the same kinds of volume, textures and depth as his paintings. This a wonderful lithograph of an expressionist woman's profile and torso. She and the stylized line to the left side are in medium oranges while the tangled background is forest green. Print is signed in pencil on lower right side and the edition number, 120/150, appears on the lower left. Framed with plain metal frame. Measures apprx 31" x 23-1/2".
