501. Slag Glass Chandelier, ca. Late 19th/Early 20th Century
A large chandelier shade made from grass green, white and brown slag glass. Slag glass is opaque pressed glass with colored streaks first made popular in the 1890's. Dining room dome shade is made with eight panes of glass joined by decorative welding in a circular form. Has scalloped shaped opening. Eight smaller petal shapes sit atop. Item is suspended from a chain. Has electric fixtures including large round bulb. Possibly an Empire of Chicago lamp. Measures apprx 13"T x 23"D.
