8. Romano-Britain Bronze Clasps, circa 1st-3rd Century A.D.
Lot includes an incomplete Roman Fibula and a Roman pin. Fibula is a Latin term meaning "clasp". (Originating with the name of the thin bone of the outer leg.) This ornament was used as a decorative brooch and clothing fastener. Pin measures apprx 2" long and fibula apprx 1" long.

Pair of Avar Ornaments. Feature very pretty raised stylized biomorphic designs. Gilt detailing. One has a hole so as to thread on a string, the other has small claws on the back to aid in attachment. Measures apprx 40 X 23mm and 21 X 21mm.
