| 574. Keswick Inkwell With Pen Tray, England, circa 1933-1934
Polished brass with clear glass inkwell. Smooth crystal inkwell with a brass hinged lid, apprx 1-14/15"W x 1-2/3"H. Fitted into raised square band holder. Tray is apprx 4-4/15"W x 8-2/15"L x 1/2"D with inward sloping walls. Bottom is marked with school hallmark KSIA, Keswick set in a rectangle, and date denoted by C67 (the year and job number). The design subscribes to the sleek lines and stylization of the Arts and Crafts aesthetic. The Keswick school was started in 1884 and played a key part in the "Arts and Crafts" movement in England.
