17. Attributed to Thomas Churchyard (English, 1798-1865)

Country Landscape. Small oil on canvas mounted onto a wooden board, framed. Thomas Churchyard was a painter of the Suffolk School. A lawyer by profession, Churchyard was an avid art collector and became known for his intimate landscapes or nature scenes. This particular piece is a fluidly painted depiction of a country road with a small figure at its center. It has a wonderful sense of movement and texture. Image meeasures apprx 4" x 6". Framed in a gold painted wood frame with name placqard at bottom. With frame, entire item measures apprx 8" x 10".
