| 533. Gentleman's Traveling Case, circa Early 19th Century
Gorgeous inlaid box outfitted with everything a Victorian travelling gentleman could possibly need. Exterior of box, on top and front, is ornately inlaid with a variety of colored woods in geometric patterns. In center of lid, and around key hole, is a blank coat of arms in brass. Interior lid is lined with black leather. Body of box contains various compartments for necessities. Box comes with three crystal jars with stoppers, two round jars with metal lids, a long rectangular box with silver tooled lid, and three types of small hand tools (one hooked, one straight and pointed, and one corkscrew). Tray lifts off to show storage space beneath and also at side is a spring action "secret drawer". Bottom lined with green fabric. Box measures apprx 7"H x 9"W x 12"L. 1,500/2,500 back to catalog |
