367. Pair of Bristol Vases, English, Late 19th Century

English Bristol Glass is smooth to the touch and opaque due to the inclusion of tin oxide. Originally made because the blown glass could so closely resembled porcelain. On these large vases, the scenes of pretty women with putti are transfered and detailing is hand applied. Vase is brown at top and fades down to a buttery yellow. Nicely polished rim. On one bottom is a painted 4, on the other a 3. Stand apprx 12"H and 4-1/4"D, at mouth.
