132. A Collection of Shakspeare Prints by J.& J. Boydell, English, circa 1792, 1801

Lot includes two unframed engravings on heavy paper from the Shakspeare collection by J. & J. Boydell, "Winters Tale" and "As You Like It". The "Winter" image is taken from Act IV. Scene III. The depiction is from the original painting by Era. Wheatley. Engraved by Ja. Fittler, Marine Eng. to his Majesty, as seen on lower right. Measures apprx 26" x 20". The " As You Like it" image is taken from Act II. Scene VII and from the original painting by R. Smirke, R.A. Engraving done by R. Thew, Engraver to H.R.H. the Prince of Whales. Measures apprx 26" x 20". Both prints also have the Shakspeare text that inspired the images as well as information about the publisher on the bottom and gold leaf applied to edges of the paper.
