204. A Russian Silver Tea Service by Agathon Faberge, Moscow, circa 1884

Tea ( 7"T), cream (5-1/2"T) and sugar (5"T) pots with lids on like tray. Cream and sugar marked with stamp of Moskow, circa 1887 with assayer's stamp in Cyrillic of "B.P.", dated 1884 and silversmiths initials in Cyrillic "A.F." of Agathon Faberge. Interiors have a gold wash. The two smaller pots are decorated with Greek key border and similar peasant design. Larger pot is slightly different in design with angular handle and beadwork along borders. Handle has bone insulators. Has rubbed silversmiths marks, illegible with exception to "1883" the zolotnik stamp and the stamp of Moskow. Tray marked with stamp of Moskow, circa 1887 with assayer's stamp of Viktor Savinkov (Postinikova-Loseva #2112), dated 1884, and silversmiths initials in Cyrillic "V. I". Tray apprx 16-1/2" x 11". Agathon joined the House of Faberge in 1882, working along side his brother Carl, until he died in 1895.
