46. Dines Carlsen (American, 1901-1966)

"Taxco Cathedral". Oil on canvas, signed lower right, framed. A loosely painted and colorful view of the cathedral with mountain, a man and donkey approaching. Professionally framed, canvas apprx 33-1/2" x 36", overall with frame apprx 38" x 40". Known principally as an American Impressionist painter, Carlsen's paintings are in many private and public collections, including the Carnegie Museum of Art; Corcoran Art Gallery; the John Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis; and the Sweet Memorial Art Museum (now the Portland Art Museum, Maine).
